A special vote of thanks was given to Kevin, Shona & the staff of the Collingwood for all the hard work in making our weekend so memorable. Not only was the food excellent but also the service was so good. The staff just seemed to do everything witha smile on their faces. Sounds simple but somehow these days you don’t often see it.

The staff were so welcoming and helpful it would be hard to criticise, throughout our stay nothing was too much trouble.

Just a one night en route stay but intend to return for longer in order to bask further in the lovely atmosphere of this delightful hotel. All aspects are to a truly high standard from the excellent cuisine to the beautifully appointed public rooms and bedroom. The welcome and the attention we received was so refreshing and very much appreciated.

Unlike many other hotels, the Collingwood Arms lives up to the photos and descriptions on its website. My wife and I stayed for only one night whilst travelling back from Scotland and wished that we could have stayed for longer. This hotel is extremely well run with very high standards and great attention to detail. The staff were all very friendly and well trained. The bedrooms are all named after ships that fought at the battle of Trafalgar under the command of Admiral Collingwood which is a nice touch. Our room was the Bellerephon and it was quite spacious, very comfortable and overlooked the inner courtyard and gardens so was very quiet even with the windows open all night. We had a great night's sleep. The shower room was well equipped and the shower itself was great once you got the hang of it. The hotel has two eating areas, an informal brasserie adjacent to the bar and a more formal restaurant at the back of the hotel. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food and service was exemplary. The sticky toffee pudding was a triumph. Breakfast was wonderful. All the food is sourced locally wherever possible and you could taste the difference. The sausage was especially tasty. It was the best breakfast I have had in a long time. It is clear that the management work very hard to ensure such high standards and I would certainly stay here again when next in the area.

On arrival were greeted by friendly staff, minimum fuss for checking in. Our room was lovely, clean and well decorated. Bathroom was huge, with Molton Brown toiletries and huge fluffy white towels. Ate in the restaurant every night, the food was very good, and wine was reasonably priced. Not a lot going on in Cornhill, but loads to do in the surrounding area. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, and the Manager, Kevin, was a delightful chap. All in all we had a wonderful stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone.

One of the best places we have ever stayed. Wonderfully friendly and warm greeting from Kevin and all of the staff. The hotel itself is clean, fresh and beautifully laid out with large comfortable rooms and bathrooms. They even have a guests kitchen so you can make your own tea or grab a cool bottle of water while relaxing! Brilliant idea.

The food, in a word, exceptional. Every bite of every course, from breakfast, lunch and dinner was a taste sensation. I could not give high enough praise. We went for a bit of relaxation and came home incredibly chilled out. The next stay is already being planned

Kate and I had our wedding reception at The Collingwood after being married at the Wedding Room at Coldstream. We would like to say a big thank you to Kevin and his team for making the day a day to remember. We had friends and family from all over come to our wedding and they all say it was a brilliant day. Kevin and his staff looked after everyone. The greeting of our guests, the meal, the service throughout the day was just first class and helped make our special day perfect.
